Hi all

just a quick question, do any of the speed camera files cover the cameras in Ireland.

Thanks

Con

Northern Ireland seems to be covered within the database. Mostly in Belfast, but that's not all, there are quite a few elsewhere from looking at them loaded into Autoroute Express.

I seem to recall posts in the past saying that it's illegal to use a Sat Nav with a safety camera database installed in the Republic of Ireland.

But maybe there was confusion between camera databases and camera detection equipment. Confused

I remember that too...
I made a crack about how could they stop ALL methods of detection when the latest AA atlases have the cameras marked? Then found out that the Eire atlas DOESN'T, apparently for that very reason!

Here's the thread:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=41323

and the regulation:

Quote:
"3. In these Regulations, "speed meter detector" means any device which is capable of being used to indicate the existence of, or to frustrate the operation of, electronic or other apparatus being used to give indications from which the speed at which a person was driving can be inferred."

Covers things that tell you the location even if they don't detect" as such.

we have them in the master database but we removed them from the release as it is illegal to use them in ireland. didn't want to get into trouble for supplying essentially illegal info...!

Hi just bought a tomtom and found in great in England and Wales. Shame there was no warning displayed on the device that Ireland was not covered when returning to Northern Ireland via the ferry.
