I've just downloaded the speed camera database into Navman, very smooth thanks. I see there are two different types of mobile site, one with a white icon and one with a black icon but what is the difference between them? I have searched and searched but can't find anything whic gives the game away. Of course I'll stumble across it right after I post this but just in case, if anyone knows, please tell.

How are you searching then?

This seems to get asked every few days, so may I suggest the following:

1. Click on the "Search" box above (with the icon),
2. Type "pmobile" in the "search for keywords" box
3. Select "Pocket GPS Speed Camera Database" from the "Forum" list
4. Click "search"

You then get 23 results where the word "pmobile" has been used.

Two threads are actually called "pmobile???", one is called "What are these filenames?", one is called "camera categories" - all of these explain what a pmobile is straight away. Most of the other threads mention it in one of the posts too.

Lots of people say "I've searched and searched" but no one seems to use the "search" function! Crying or Very sad

Andy

A very measured response and long and not terse

Not busy last night then?

After searching various forums, checking out FAQs and looking through all the documentation associated with the database wth no joy I used the search function in the way you describe. Then I used ctrl F to find the word pmobile in the long list of responses but it returned no results.

Maybe using PMOBILE rather than pmobile was the problem, I don't know but if I'd known people in these forums were so damned sarcastic and unfriendly you can be sure I wouldn't have bothered asking for a little help.

If, as you say, this question turns up time and time again to annoy and irritate you lovely people might I suggest that an index of the icons used in the database feature somewhere prominent in the FAQs. Then you wouldn't have to interrupt the imortant other stuff you should be doing just to insult new subscribers to this service.

So fear not, I shan't be bothering you or anyone on these forums again and I hope your life is not blighted in future by people lacking your deep and extensive knowledge of all things trivial. Have a good life.

Searching PMOBILE or pmobile returns me 67 results!
One of them is:-

I found the reply from Andy_P2002 measured, comprehensive and instructive and tailored to a new member and I fail to see how it justified the response including:-

Yiam,

I did not see anything unfriendly in any of the responses - if mine gave offense then I apologise.

I also tried pmobile in search in capitals and obtained results.

I think Andy_P2002 showed great restraint when replying to Yiam about the eternal " what is the difference between pmobile and mobile ? " question.

This same question keeps popping up again and again ( and again ) and is starting to get REALLY BORING now !!

I too tried searching for PMOBILE and pmobile and both searches returned the correct information required.

Clearly , you can't help some people !

Maybe it would be easiest just to sticky a thread about Pmobiles in a prominent location in the forum.

Here is a very good answer for what a pmobile is.

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=55162&highlight=pmobile

Told you pmobile's cause arguments. Joker
And perhaps there should be a stickie about them.

Yeah but stickies don't work either. The 19, 25, 43 mph question still rears it's ugly head. Personally i've given up answering these questions - even sarcastically or by telling them to search. If they can't be arsed to do a proper search i can't be arsed either. Some noobies just want it all on a plate.

Pmobile is totally different in my opinion, people with the KPH MPH issue don't have a clue what the problem is in the first place, where as the PMobile question doesn't have any reason to be mistaken for anything else.

Doesn't matter WHAT the problem is, the answer for both can be found easily with a search. That's the point - not what type of problem people are facing.

Well lets face it the type of people that come to a forum like this asking fairly basic questions probably haven't got a clue how to use the search function properly in the first place. Anything to help reduce the number of repeat questions has got to be a good thing. Jumping down on people and telling them to use the search function probably takes longer than just answering the question in the first place, hence the sticky idea.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree. As i said stickies don't work either. They get ignored in favour of posting the question again, which ironically, would have taken longer than it would have to search for and get the answer anyway.

A lot of answers to a simple question, wouldnt it have been easier to give a one line answer in the first place, it would seem that most answers want to make a mountain out of a molehill.
