It's not an option available to us with the forum software we use. However any post edited after it has had replies is clearly annotated to that effect which should indicate to all that the post has been altered.

And as well as what Darren has said, we're keeping an eye out for abuse of the edit system. If it DOES get misused like in your scenario) then it will be removed as quickly as it was added.
