I installed 1.5 first, and then added the dll "aygshell.dll" as I did in 1.31, but it runs too slow for some reason. Why would that be? version 1.31 is very fast and no errors. The device OS is Win CE .NET 4.2

Phonic

Aygshell.dll is a Pocket PC DLL that controls things like full screen modes and the menu bar at the bottom. The DLL doesnt come with the majority of Win CE devices. The DLL's on the HPC website range from renamed dlls, semi functional ones to ones with only function placeholders (ie non-functioning).

What I was saying in my previous post was that I can recompile without this DLL but since I dont have access to a Win CE device I cant say what needs to be altered.

it takes 30 second to load(old version <1 second), then to screen goes blank, and comes back again, then the menu start the draw one at a time( GPS,Menu)

It must be taking 100% CPU usage, as the whole system runs very slow(eg. 30 seconds after clicking on Start do I get the menu.)

Phonic

The load time is due to the speed camera database loading - which does exactly like you say ie the system is busy for 30 seconds.

Once the database has loaded it should be fine.

I`m trying to install GPS Speed Sentry 1.5 now but it keeps telling me it isnt a valid WinCe app. I have aygshell.dll (arm version) in the progdir and in windows dir for good measure.

Got it working! Had the wrong gayshell.dll Smile Number 4 is the one.,

Tried to get windows media player 8 PPC to work but it comes up with the error message of

"cannot find 'player' (or one of it's components) make sure path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available"

any ideas if this is gonna work anyway?

I`m using TCMP version 7.1 without any problems.

Just discovered AytoBe uses AC97 soundcard - next question is, can I connect a mic to it somehow - usb? I want to use it as a guitar tuner.

There is the TCPMP 0.81 media player here, works well:
http://rapidshare.com/files/4852327/TCPMP_Media_Player_0.81RC1Beta.cab.html

Move window is another useful one, allows you to shift on screen box so you can get to the 'ok or 'x'.

Have a look for CEpims, explaination here:

Process Killer - very handy! Use the version with mcf. I managed to kill Malata.

To get the taskbar/start button - use SIPrc keyboard, press Ctrl and Esc, it should pop up then you can change the settings so that it isnt hidden.

Hi, I've been doing some research in frustration on this machine and thought I'd post some results here.

I contacted Tele Atlas and enquired about the maps for this. Needless to say they said they had no knowledge of the machine but he did do some investigation - this was the reply I got today:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After communicating with some of the folks in one of our European offices
the company is legitimate as Dangaard is one of our customers. I would
suggest contacting Dangaard and being insistent until you get the maps
that you need. I believe, (but am not certain,) that the hardware is made
by Gate5/Malta, however, this will likely not be of use to you as your
license key should be unique to Aytobe/Dangaard.

The one thing that I can do here on our end is encourage our account
manager, (in Europe) to Dangaard to communicate to them that their
customers are having trouble with the website and obtaining maps. This is
the first time that customer support here in North America has been
contacted regarding Aytobe.

Best wishes and good luck.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slight typo - he meant Malata which is also announced on their site as a partner. Checking the Malata site there are 3 machines that look identical and cross referencing with the Aytobe site I think we are looking at a PG-65309. I've written to Malata and will post anything positive if it happens.

However, it does appear that maybe this might make things a little easier in finding out what maps will work on the machine particularly as Malata is instantly recognised by Tele Atlas on their partner pages but the problem is that I was speaking with the North American branch who told me initially that they only supply Maps for the US. The original response from Tele Atlas:

---------------------------------------------------------------
In North America we always refer PNAV customers back to the
manufacturer for updates. We only sell data to our partners in North
America, that data is then re-formatted, compiled and compressed by the
company and then made available to their customers. I am not certain
how this works in Europe so I have contacted someone there to see if
they might have some answers for you. I should hear back from them by
tomorrow morning Eastern Time USA.
---------------------------------------------------------------

I have no information nor have I recieved a reply from Smart2Go who are probably the distributers for the European versions.

Perhaps if we all start contacting all the people involved including Maplin they will be forced to come back with an answer after enough people mention the device to them. Running TT on this whilst a solution is not something we should let these people get away with. It's a hack and a work around but as the consumer we were not told that this machine is not supported nor would we have any problems finding more maps and getting a decent level of support. Besides TT will cost extra and not everyone will want to do that.

Maplin refunded me without question on that basis. I've ordered iPAQ rx5720 mentioned earlier. £30 more expensive but with TT6 as an application and the rest of the machine to play with without the hacks.

Just bear in mind the TomTom Application has always been free, so the fact it is pre-installed means very little to be honest, unless of course the device comes supplied with maps and a Product code (which I doubt at the price).
I only mention the above before lots of others return units to purchase the ipaq with TomTom and find there are maps available at additional cost - Mike
