Hi a newbie question, I'm looking to buy a PDA based product but according to the website R66 don't support the O2 XDA Mini S.

Has anyone out there used R66 on this model of PDA, or would you have any suggestions for a different product to buy for the Mini S?

TIA,
Mervenut

I cannot remember ever trying R66 on the mini-s but I will load it later tonight when I get home and see if it works (it certainly should do) which bluetooth GPS do you intend using with it?

One other device I do know R66 works on is the HTC Artemis more widely known as the T-Mobile MDA Compact III or XDA Orbit, these units have built in GPS and provide an easy GPRS connection for the TMC data.

Will post an update later re the mini-s and R66, TomTom certainly works on the mini-s - Mike

Thanks for the prompt response Mike!
My iconcern is that the Mini S has a 200mhz processor and i usually have about 15mb ram available but am not sure if it is a little underpowered. I dn't want irt crashing if i take a call (handsfree of course!) while navigating on unfamiliar roads!

I'm looking at buying the Global Sat BT359 receiver, it seem a nice bit of kit!
Tnks,

It works fine on the mini-s as for the processor speed I wouldn't worry too much, far more modern devices are fitted with the same chip and work very well indeed as a phone. Nice choice for the GPS BTW - Mike

Thanks for taking the trouble to check that Mike, I really appreciate it!

I'm really undecided as between R66 and CoPilot Live 6, would you have any advice to give on which the better option. I'm living in Ireland but am often driving in UK and plan a trip to Italy in June. :D

TIA,

To be honest I prefer Route 66 when compared to Co-Pilot, I just never got to grips with Co-Pilot when I tried it, that said there is a new version out but I have not seen that yet. I like the screen colours of the map in Route 66, and its not too bad in use - just takes a bit of getting used to for the navigate to option as my version didn't cme with full UK postcode support (newer shipments do have full postcode support though) - Mike

Thanks Mike,
I'm moving towards R66 haveing looked at copilot.
It seems the new version of copilot was announced in Feb but no date for release yet, was supposed to be March, then April and now I hear May from some sources (copilot forum here), but ALK say to me in an email yesterday that "no date has been announced", so it seems they are having difficulties getting it finalised for shipping - never a good sign!

I thnnk i'll go with R66 then, thanks for your input, it's appreciated!

I eventually bought R66 Navigate 7 for PPC - and am using it on my O2 Mini S (HTC Wizard) very satisfactorily! Thanks to all who contributed to the question! Laughing
