I just soldered some ring terminals to the cable ends and bolted directly on to the battery terminals, running the cable down the underside of the tank.

I always remove the gps from the bike so there shouldn't be any issues with running the battery down.

I hope you fitted a fuse to protect the wiring (5A inline will suffice) - direct feeds from the battery are not a good idea, if the cable is severed or rubs on the bikes structure due to vibration you could suffer an electrical fire! - not recomended, more so if its routed under the fuel tank - Mke

Good job I've removed it then.

The Zumo comes with an in-line fuse already in the wiring so all should be good now...as did my heated waistcoat and heated gloves and heated grips. Wonder why tomtom don't go the extra mile?

Why do you need or want an extra mile when using a Sat Nav - most people want the most efficient route 8) .
In all seriousness though make sure any connection to the battery is suitably fused, I wouldn't want an electrical fire in car let alone on a bike - Mike

I just bought a Zumo 500. Are there any diagrams/pictures that might help me install the power to the ignition? I don't want to get it wrong and active the imobilser or anything. If it matters I have an 07 Honda Transalp.
