no traffic info

hi
i have a route 66 pnd with tmc support
you have to buy a product key from route 66 which i have done
they send you an activation code to activate the software this i have done
they dont supply the aerials they have not got a clue where you can obtain the aerial just told me to get a GNS TRAFFICBOX FM9 RDS TMC RECEIVER now i have this aerial
have spent out £110 on these products BUT STILL NO TRAFFIC INFO
i have enabled traffic on my CHICAGO 6000 but get nothing
AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG

Kelvin, Where are you located in the country? - TMC reception can, at best be described as "patchy" in the UK, also what type of car are you using the device in? - some fitted with athermic glass can seriously attenuate the RF signal further compounding the problem - Mike

i live in salisbury in wiltshire
i drive a coach other drivers have a garmin and use the same aerial system and get good reception and get good reports
to be fair have not been on a long journey yet just trid it driving around salisbury but put in a route i know has long road works ie M3 but not one hint of travel info the travel icon on my system stays greyed out
not seen it as bright as all the other icons yet

One thing you also need to be aware of is that Garmin use Trafficmaster to provide their TMC data, whereas I believe Route66 use iTIS Holdings, who use different radio stations to transmit the data, so just because one can get traffic does not imply the other can - you may be simply in a really bad Classic FM signal area, whereas the Garmin units fair much better.

You may well find that Salisbury is simply a dead spot, and you will be fine once you leave the local area.

You may also, unfortunately, find no improvement Sad

which may be down to the vehicle, the hardware, or many other factors.

Do let us know how it performs on a longer journey...

I assume the GNS trafficbox is plumbed into your vehicle's aerial feed...?
