Well what can i say Drivesmart is still alive, where have they been for the past nearly two months?

I have just had an e-mail from DS, without any explanation the forum is back on line and no hints to the absence of the Company.

They have relreased a NEW database as a CSV file right HERE they are talking as if the past never existed.

Although I am still a forum member, I think a lesson has been learnt and my loyalties will remain here, I haven't loaded the database yet and am wondering as to why the file change and it can even be "tweaked".

Very suspicious looking, maybe the Company is full of mad bearded scientists who lock themselves away for long periods and forget the time.
What are they up to, any idea?

I thought the user upload option had a restricted number of locations? Does this mean users can now use CSV rather than the .hex file? If os then all we nned to do is release our database in the .csv format they use.

Or have I completely misunderstood (happens frequently!).

It is a csv file with data, but will need some time to work out what they have done - it is certainly not in the same format as the PGPSW csv files!
Line 7649 equates to Mobile 6816 for example - Mike

I'm almost frightened to install it in case it destroys the unit.

Surely they must have some idea as to all the negative comments they have had, as I know they watch this forum, maybe they have had a holiday with Bin Laden in his cave!!

Never seen a Company like this before.

If we now have access to CSV rather than HEX files, wouldn't this make it easier to install PGPSW files inplace of their's, as your files are far more comprehensive than their files.

Since running the Nuvi with your files alongside the DS i have seen many camera sites missing on the DS, ommitedly a lot of these are "temps" but as these are the ones most likely to "nab" you when you aren't looking, (before anyone comments, we are all human and yes i sometimes do edge slightly over the line - by mistake) I feel they are more important.

If a DS file could be made up here, they can take a running jump.

I have only been looking at it for a bit:

Longitude; Latitude; Speed; single/ both direction; Type; Heading (where Known)

speed in MPH

Type:
1 = GATSO, Watchman
8 = "Watermark" - unless anyone can add to these?
9 = Mobile
10= Redlight
12 = Truvelo
13 = SPECS

Will work out the rest later as I need to go out for a bit - Mike

Edit once to add more to "Type" - will code some software to look for any other types as it will be faster than using the "look see method"

I think this data looks out of date considering the "spot checks" I have tried while validating the categories

Sorry mate but it looks like you have been censored already. Your link does not exist. Looked on the forum aswell to see if there was anything there, but it looks like DS are up to there old tricks.

Regards

Also would like to say that I totally agree with you regarding returning to DS's forum my loyalty stays here, and as far as I'm concerned they can go and play in a dark room by themselves.

Great, I love it, as you say they are back to their old tricks, censored within the hour.

I wasn't offensive and didn't swear, I can't remember exactly, but I asked something like -

Where have they been since early February?
Were they all mad Scientists, and had they been locked away for two months?

Told them that a lot of members of the forum had moved elsewhere and bought Sat Navs.

Gave them a lecture on their crap support.

I think what we need here is to perform a "total boycott" of the DS Forum!! Give them a taste of their own medicine!!

a random one here:

-1,69033;53,80149;30;1;1;328

turns out to be fairly local to me!!

anyway, we have this as a removed gatso so for types i guess 1 is gatso (along with the ones from mikealder)

if we get a list of each camera type and associated values then we should be able to create a 'csv' for you guys in this weird, none-csv format!

MaFt

ps the 2 others i picked at random were mobile sites that didn't match anything in our database.

mikealder, you don't need to drive around - just copy the co-ords into the camera submission page and change eg 53,225 to 53.225, and put them the other way round eg: 53.80149,-1.69033

Looks as if they have already "boycotted" me as i can't get back on the forum, although my profile is still there - still who cares, they can get knotted.

I find it easier to select a known camera of a given type on our map then look it up in the strange csv file. What we could do with knowing is how many specific named camera types they are / were using, for example does watchman type have its own category - Mike
