on this card copying thing, how come i copied all of my data to a new 1 gb card via a card reader and it works fine!

I guess this depends on whether you have mapping on the card or on the unit. If yours is on the unit, then copying data from your orig card to another would only be POI's & voice, not maps. Others have found that copying map data from the orig card to a fresh card does not work correctly and only gives you basemap.

My maps are on the card and i just copied everything across from old little card to new big card and all works as it should.

But what maps did you copy? the original ones that came with the i3 on purchase or an updated version that you installed at a later stage?
