Hi,

After many years of TomTom I finally made the decision to switch to MioMap 3.2 for my pda + GNS TMC receiver and I have to say what a good choice it was.

I have been using the Aug 06 version and the traffic worked great after I made up a patch lead so that I could use my car's ariel to feed my tmc unit, what a difference this made.

I live in East Yorkshire and work all over the north, generally the frequency Mio would lock onto would be around 105.4 (Galaxy FM) and then download the tmc data. Last night I downloaded the Nov 06 update and now Mio instantly locks on to Classic FM 100mhz. I still get tmc data, does anyone know why one version used radio stations broadcasting around the 105 mhz range and now with the latest version I seem to get Classic FM all the time.

Don't get me wrong I am not complaining I am just interested and to anyone out there who is reading this and is struggling with tmc reception just either get an ariel splitter or as I did make up a lead from the cars ariel straight into the tmc unit. Once you have done this the difference will be unbelievable. TMC does work :D

Regards

Richard

As far as I can see, there should be no difference since the specification for the receiver is given as "Frequency range: 87,5 .. 108,0 MHz", which should cover both of the frequencies quoted.

I have found that the traffic info from several different radio stations has been identical, so I may plead ignorance/insanity and ask if it really matters which station you're receiving data from - just as long as you're receiving TMC data your unit should surely work seemlessly even switching between radio stations.

If you're lucky enough to be in an area with coverage by multiple radio stations it may just be that one has a stronger signal strength than another at any given time - I've found that weather conditions may affect TMC reception.

Can you tell me if you are using a Mio 168 and where you bought Miomap v3? I am interested in purchasing if it works OK on a 168.

Regards

This matter is being discussed at length in thread "Mio TMC reports borked" by 'Retty' .
