Although Garmin haven't updated the front page of their support website to say so, there is new version of the firmware available for the Streetpilot C510, C530 and C550

Official links :-
(they're all actually the same download, at the end of it all!)

Yes, so the software is identical for all three.... which gives the question why the features of all three are different? (510 no MP3, no TTS....)

I reckon you'll find gaps on circuit boards where stuff like the bluetooth goes, if you were to undo those 4 little screws on the front Smile

The features are different due to hardware and/or marketing decisions by Garmin - it's the same as the firmware for the Nuvi 310 and 360 - they are the same download, but only the 360 has TTS.

Now - thats just what i wanted to point out, the interesting qurestion is if it is possible to cheat the hardware recognition.

btw, here are lots of critical voices about the 5.20 update - there are several problems with TMC and POI visualization reported. Lots of useres are downgrading back to 4.xx

Not that I know of - there are distinct hardware differences between the two, and the firmware knows that.

The same happened when the interface first came out on the 660 last month. I have to say I think I prefer putting the map first (easier overall picture of what's going on, especially when driving in unfamiliar areas), but would then prefer the original list system (allowing you to page down through the list) rather than the item by item scroll the new interface has.

Personally, I'll be applying it when it's available for my Nuvi - either Garmin will improve it further, or they won't, but I'm not willing to miss out on new features in the future due to not liking the interface.
