Postcode db for CPL

Hi guys

Downloaded all the TomTom post code zips and extracted the 120 ov2 files.
Wrote a mickey mouse perl script to convert each to csv and then append to a single huge csv will all the UK postcodes (stripping off the comment and blank lines).

Total size is 59mb with 1,679,538 postcodes.

Tried the import into CPL4 and it bailed at 16,384 records :-(

Positive outcome from this is that there is a simple way of taking any TomTom overlays and importing them to CPL4.

If ALK can overcome this import limit, hopefully it wouldn't have the same performance problems we see with TomTom as the POIs are actually created as part of the map (I think). Compressed as part of the map I'd think the add circa 12mb or 12-15% of the total UK map size which I don't think is unreasonable. You would then be able to route to a fully qualified Postcode :-)

Cool stuff. Let's see what Alk have to say to that limitation. Don't expect too much though - custom POIs are not part of the map data.
