Try as I might I cannot get the POI files to download to my Jornada(tomtom2) the blue bar gets about halfway but then I get "Could not create remote file" I've checked the FAQ and my proxy settings etc and they appear to be ok, is it something simple I am missing, I have copied some to my C drive and converted over to my PPC but then I cant get Tomtom to see them, I am getting to the point of desperation, anyone help?

If you are running ActiveSync 3.7 or above, this may be the problem. These versions break connectivity between PC applications talking to the Pocket PC, and you might need to downgrade to a lower version of ActiveSync to resolve the issue. |

Thanks Dave will give it a try, but how do I get TT to view the files I downloaded from my PC to the storage card where the maps are?

Steve, If you can't access the webpage either for the POIEdit download, then it sounds like you may have a major issue on your PC, I can get to the download without any problems.
http://www.dnote.nl/pda/poi/PoiEdit/files/PoiEdit_v26.exe
I take it you do have POIEdit installed, and you are pointing the update wizard to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/poisync/pocketgps.xml ?
All POIEdit is doing when installed is to download files from our website (which I presume is happening as you have connected and selected the POI's to download ?), then it saves them to your PC, and uses ActiveSync DLL's to copy the files to your Storage Card via the Active Sync connection.
Which version (and build release) of ActiveSync are you running ?
If you use POIEdit to connect and select a new POI to sync, when you click the next button after ticking the POI, what location do you get. You should get something like MOBILE://{full_dir_name}.
Please supply the full error that comes back and at what stage. |

Dave
When I go to the link forPoi Edit v26.exe I get "This page cannot be displayed" and unfortunately I removed PoiEdit to try a new download but now I can't get to the page to reload it. I also removed activesync 3.7 and downloaded 3.5 s you advised previously but still it didn't work, I got as far as the blue download bar getting started but then it stopped and the message is "Could not create remote file" so I saved to C drive instead and that worked but then when I copied over to the PDA TT doesn't see the files on the storage card but they are in a sub directory of the map, should they be in the same directory as the map?

Dave sussed the C drive bit of course they should be in the same directory (moment of madness) now just to solve the other bit, I will get PoiEdit back from recycle bin and try that. Steve |

Ok, in that case then I would call your ISP because either you have major problems with your PC not authenticating DNS requests, or your ISP is blocking sites. Going to http://www.dnote.nl/pda/poi/PoiEdit/files/PoiEdit_v26.exe works fine. Seeing that you are also having problems using POIEdit that you had downloaded this suspects me that something is majorly corrupt on your IP stack on your PC. |

steveky....had exactly the same problem as you but fixed it, you still interested ? You have to untick the automatically detect box in the LAN SETTINGS for both ISP, should work.
