Hi
I posted a question in the beginners forum. It's had plenty of looks but no replies, and looking around I thought this may be a more appropriate place to ask. my question is
Just joined the forum having spent sometime trying to wade through the mountains of info, so if I've missed what I'm looking for, sorry, and please point me in the right direction.
I am looking to purchase a Mio P550 to use with memory map whilst out walking and caching.
I would also like to use in car for navigation and would like to know the pros and cons of Miomap and TomTom ie which one is best to go for.
Hope someone out there can help
Thanks in advance question is

This probably doesn't answer your question but may give you food for thought. I plumped for the Destinator 6 software and it works very well on my Mio p550. It has a pedestrian mode for walking as well as car navigation and gives latitude and longitude coordinates.
I even used it to follow my progress on a plane flight from the Netherlands back to the UK giving both altitude and ground speed. I didn't think I'd get enough satellites from such a small window.
If you want to use the gps unit for walking with OS maps then you might consider http://www.gpstuner.com/

I have posted enquiry about problem with backup using TT home
to backup TT6 on mio p550. At time of writing it is still unresolved,
Whats more disturbing is TT are saying they dont support Mio p550 with
Nav6 because it is not on Navigator 6 compatibility list: ??
Before buying, TT came out on tops according to PCpro magazine.
So far I am pleased with TT6 & Mio P550 except this active sync problem
and the support. You should be able to see reviews on line

Hope that helps
