I recently bought a TomTom One v2 Europe. One of the claimed features is an optional warning if exceeding the speed limit.
I have the full menu displayed, but haven't seen anywhere to activate this. I have not noticed any speed limits displayed yet (though obviously I'm not looking at the screen all the time!). Perhaps there is not much speed data on the maps for this area (South Wales)
I've set up the pgpsw database so get audible and visual camera warnings, but it would be nice to use this feature as well
I like the new NavTeq maps!!

Robin

my understanding is that the displayed mph turns red very hit and miss.

If you display 'mph' on the status bar then it will display 'xx mph' if it doesn't know the speed limit, or 'xx/xx' if it does (eg: 65/70 which 70 is the limit). If your speed exceeds the limit (by 5 mph?) then it flashes red.

I personally find less than 40% of the roads I'm on having a limit.

to be honest the feature is a good idea but in practice it gets about 50% of the speeds for the road wrong mostly the national speed limit roads shows 70mph when it should be 60 mph do not trust it you have been warned

More importantly, how do you disable this feature????

I find it quite distracting when it is flashing red most of the time. I am a high-mileage motorway friver and normally drive around 80 MPH.

I want to see the speed I'm travelling but not the red flashing digits, can it be diabled but still display your speed?

Thanks

Nope, You cannot disable the red flashing display of speed - there is one simple way and that involves lifting the right foot, but this only works where the unit is displaying the correct speed limit in the first place Laughing - Mike

I accept 80 MPH is illegal and is only safe under certain circumstances but I do not want a sat nav system that is also a 'big-brother' unit!!!

Hopefully Tomtom will offer a disable feature in the next software updates.

I've never seen it do that... It only shows 70 on NSL dual carriageways, which is correct. I'm sure if TT had an entire class of road wrong these forums would have been full of it already!

Of course there are individual roads incorrect and you can't rely on it for anything other than an extra source of data. Round here we have roads that vary wildly between 30 and 40 (and the limit changes every few months) - TT is hopeless for that kind of situation.

OK so I've taken my foot off the brake. It's still flashing. What next? Laughing

How do I get my TomTom one to show me flashing and in red digits for my speed? Do I need to have certain update?

Please let me know.
Thanks.

I am petty sure that I will need to do an update to my TOMTOM one for this feature to work. I currently have spoken speed camera alerts but how do I get the speed to flash if I go over the speed limit?

Please let me know.

Tom
