Has anyone bought the TMC antenna for the MIO C510? Does it come with the required software and lifetime subscription?

Is it even available, yet?

Peacemold,

I have a tmc antenna on back order from easydevices.co.uk. They have them in stock but won't send them out until they receive an update from Mio(God knows how long that will take though). I asked them to test it for me and they told me it didn't work. I have 3.2 system on my 510 and it contains all the tmc menus etc so I am kinda hoping it will work when I get the antenna.

Watch this space.

Bigrids.

Bigrids,

Are you sure you have 3.2 and not 3.11?

Alex,

Yeh you're right. After I posted this I realised I had made a mistake but couldn't be bothered to change it.

As an aside I have just completed a 2200 mile trip to Switzerland and Italy through France with my C510 and it behaved impeccably. I did not get lost once. The reports of cameras in France were not very reliable though but some were right. Also speed limits displayed were not always right (they seemed to be in mph).

However overall still very impressed. Still waiting for this traffic antenna though.

Bigrids.

I'm going to already... :D

The 510E looks the business for me as I don't need the Euro stuff that often but the main road element pre loaded is good enough and I can always load the street level maps onto the SD when I do. TMC would be nice but I can live without that and perhaps buy the upgrade when they get it right (?) a sI read that it doen't work correctly with the current firmware ???

So yes, by the weekend you can welcome another MIo owner...I will order from Handtec @ £207 tonight......

As a matter of interest check which firmware it comes with as I`m sure someone mentioned that the new batches will have the new firmware on them?

Hi all,

I've just received an e-mail from easydevices.co.uk saying thay are now ready to despatch my tmc receiver but would I confirm that I have a later system than 3.03 because it doesn't work with that. As I have 3.11 I have replied to that effect. I shall look forward to receiving this and testing it particularly as I have to drive up the M6 on Friday night so that should be a good test.

I shall keep you all informed.

Hi all,

I have now today received my antenna. Just a cable for £62!! Still on plugging it in it didn't work. Then I realised it needed power so when I connected it to the car charger on it came. it tuned to my local radio station and then showed all the hold ups/traffic jams across the country. Considering everyone says they don't work in the UK I was thrilled.

Now the real test comes tomorrow when I have to drive up the M5 and M6 to Stafford on a Friday at teatime! I'm looking forward to actually finding a traffic jam to see how it works "in the field"

I shall report back later.

Hi all,

Well I've completed my trip from Plymouth to Stafford and return with TMC installed. It displayed two little cars on the satellite icon on the main screen which meant traffic information had been downloaded. At one point I had 17 pages of it!!

However, I did not encounter one single hold up in either direction. I couldn't believe it. So I still haven't actually been rerouted around anything.

I have to go again next week so maybe I will find a problem then.

Hi bigrid!

I have a mio C510
I'm interested in this: "European maps loaded on SD card"
How did you make the C510 miomap accept the European maps?
Or are you using the C510 with iGO?
Would you share the soft on rapidshare (hxxp://ww.rapidshare.de)?

Thanks in advance!
Bye
