Ok a bit of an exaggeration because my 910(No.2) does speak directions, speed cam warnings but for some inexplicable reason does not announce upon starting up that it's connected to my mobile phone.

Now as I say, this is no.2 & I have installed the new data.chk files from this site to give the custom camera warnings, but as I recollect it has never spoken up that it is connected to my 'phone, which the original (otherwise bl**dy useless 910) one did every time I powered it on.

I don't know if the new data.chk files have made this happen or not - perhaps one of you gurus can enlighten me.

Cheers
Rick

If you are using a data.chk camera waring file, what main navigation voice have you got selected?
If its a celeb voice or normal spoken voice the device will not announce the phone connection, you need to select one of the computer voices for this feature to work.
If you want spoken alerts when using a computer voice simply configure the alerts in the "Warn When Near POI" option to cater for this - I find it works great, the only limit is 60 characters for the spoken camera warning (not a problem though) - Mike

Hi Mike, I'm using one of the female computer voices so it's definitely not that which is the problem.

That is strange! if the phone has the Bluetooth switched on and set to be "discoverable" the 910 should announce "Connected to XYZ" a few seconds after it has booted up, if not I get a "Phone not connected" spoken message from the device.
Are you using the internal 910 speaker or feeding the audio out through the mount into the car stereo - the only time I have experianced this sort of behaviour is when the 910 wasn't fully connected to its mount, once I realised the unit was removed, re-mounted and it worked (I route the audio through the external feed, and don't use the internal speaker) - Mike

This happens both in "standalone" (at home on the arm of the chair) & also when mounted - I'll check the speaker settings though - what do you recommend, use internal speaker or output to external audio?

Cheers

I have the audio routed through the external connection, but the unit defaults to the internal speaker when this feed is not present, are you sure the Bluetooth Radio on the device is switched on (Change Preferences/ Bluetooth Preferences - then select Enable Bluetooth) - note to get at this selection you will need to have the Show all menu options selected which is within the Change preferences section, at the same time ensure the phone has the BT switched on and has a decent battery charge, some phones turn of the BT radio when the battery is getting low - Mike

Thanks Mike, I've been through the bt preferences and it is switched on. I've managed to get sound (don't know how) I think by switching off the external device functions for audio.

Cheers
