:D

I was so fed up with my 910 mount wabble and droop that when TomTom sent me an ineffective replacement I set about the old mount with a drill and a 6mm tap and think I have got a workable solution that fixes the droop and a certain amount of wobble.

I dismantled the mount which involved clipping off the cover and removing the screen tightening pin (for want of a better description) then drilled 2 5mm holes through the rubber ball socket. I then threaded the holes and made some short screws to fit. Now once aligned on the screen I just tighten the screws and "bingo" no droop.

Here are some photos

Sorry for using the robosavvy forum to host the pictures but I couldn't fathom how to upload the images here.

Thanks for the interesting "mod"

You cannot upload pictures to our site, so the way you did it is the only right way.

Just a thought but could it be that a certain of amount of wobble is preferable to a rock steady mount ?

A bit of movement or wobble will act as a sort of shock absorber while if the mounting is too firm or solid all shocks will be transmitted through to the GPS, which may not be good for future reliability.

yes and no. The ideal solution is in sync with the movement of your eyes, so that you get an illusion of a steady position relative to yours.

So it should be as wobbly as your seat cusion vertically, but should be sturdy horizontally.

Now I'm imagining some amazing Heath Robinson contraption to synchronise screen with eye position! Laughing
