Hi All,
Been using the Garmin i3 on my 2004 Triumph Tiger for a few months and have got nothing but praise for this little marvel. I'm planning trips to europe and want to make use of a GPS.

The question is, do I upgrade the maps on the i3 or is it better to put the money into a Quest or StreetPilot III which come with the maps? Will the Quest or StreetPiliot III be as good as the the little i3? I have read that the Quest is slow and often looses signal. I've never had any problems with the i3 (2.7 firmware).

Any advice appreicated.

Having the ability to pre plan the route on a PC would be a big advantage too.

Cheers

Paul

I have just returned from a Euro trip and used Quest 2 and although it did get me to my destinations eventually I was generally disapointed with it the original Quest is quicker and if you are pleased with what you have I would be inclined to update maps for I3.

cheers Bob

I've had a SP3 for years now. You do realise that they are obsolete now? The best upgrade is to either the 2610 or 2820 or wait until the new Zumo comes out. http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod3232.html Depends what your budget is and how quick you want to buy.
I find the SP3 very slow. The processor is old and slow. All subsequent units such as the 2610 have much faster redraw and route calculation.
I'll go for the Zumo when the time comes. It's designed specifically for bikes.

BTW, I have a 2002 Tiger. Great bike. 38000 miles no probs. Still going strong.
