Medion MDPPC250 Car charger question

Hi all, first post so be gentle! Smile

the car charger for the MDPPC250 sat nav, is the green light on the adapter meant to flash when it has power from the ciggy lighter or when it has a signal from the gps?

As I don't know if my charger is fubar'd or not Rolling Eyes

First thing to do is push the connector in gently and give it a few twists left and right, could be dirt in the cigar lighter.

While it might possibly be that the OP's power adaptor is faulty (or not receiving power - I once had the fuse in the front part of the adaptor fail, for no reason I could see !), if I remember correctly, on my MDPPC250 setup, the green LED on the car power adaptor flashed for a short time every 1 second to show that data was being sent from the GPS receiver (whether the receiver was actually receiving a GPS signal or not).

The length of time it flashed for depended on which GPS 'sentences' were being sent that second, since some sentences are commonly sent every 1, 2 or 5 seconds, depending on how the receiver has been set up.

Just to further confuse, on the car power adaptor for my MDPPC150, the green LED remains on continuously, since it is simply a power adaptor, rather than the junction between the GPS receiver and PDA, as in the MDPPC250.

Took the plunge whenI got home and took the charger apart to find the inductor (the one that looks like a resistor) snapped offthe board Sad

so I soldered it backonusing a finepointiron andhey presto...sheworks again Smile
