I don't think the new TomTom line is bad at all. In fact, from what I have gathered, they are quite good. Both the 510 and 910 have received positive reviews from people I know. Plus, the maps are supposed to be solid as well.

You definitely shouldn't have a problem with the maps. They are solid as far as I can tell. Investigate away!

A bit of negative feedback on the new T/T range on the site, in the last 3 weeks my first 510 lasted 6 days, Maplin sent me a brand new one which wouldn't read the SD card so that's gone back, I'm waiting for a refund.
I like the bigger screen, my first one (which was my first sat nav) was brilliant but didn't last.
May wait until bugs ironed out, unless anyone can recommend anything with similar sized screen.
A Garmin has won the Auto Express doodad of the year award.
Any suggestions whilst T/T sort out the teething troubles?

My first posting - but I really like my Sony NAV U 70T. The cradle is good, you can add the safety camera database (the work around is a bit off a faff but it is relatively easy), it is reasonably fast and if you install just the UK map it works well as a divx player!

Thanks for that, the more I look the more complicated it gets.
There is so much experience on this site, I guess there are no "right answers" just some that are less wrong.
Much respect to you all

I read a lot about the 910 failing due to dry solder issues... Anyone know if this has been admitted/cured yet?
