I'm hoping for help with a strange issue I have with changing maps on Navigator 5.
I'm losing any favourites that were set along with the home position.
Has anyone seen this problem before, or can anyone suggest a cure for this happening please.
Tied in with this, can anyone tell me the location used to store any favourites that are set.
I am assuming at present they would be on the storage card somewhere along with the maps.
Any help and suggestions would be gratefully received.

The Home point set is retained in the .cfg file for whatever map you were using.
TomTom assumes if you are changing maps that the 'Home' will not be on the map so uses a new .cfg file for each map. I would presume also that by changing map that your 'favourites' would also not be on that map. For instance if changing from GB map to Benelux for instance then the favs and home locations could not be shown anyway.
Or is it that you have purchase the plus map. Then try copying and changing the .cfg file in the Great_Britain-map folder to the new map folder and rename it the same name as the folder i.e Great_Britain_Plus-Map.cfg. You will need to use ActiveSync or a card reader to see the file extensions.
If I am wrong about this I am sure the 'Mods' will put us both right

Very interesting reply.
Thanks Mystery, I shall be checking out the cfg connection.
I had a feeling that home and favourite locations would logically be kept and linked with each map.

He's right. Each Map has a configuration File for use with that Map.

There would be little point in having your Home Location, on a Great Britain Map, being used on the France Map. It would be unable to show it, or Navigate to it.Smile

What if you were planning to travel from London to Paris? Or if you were driving from Spain to Germany thus requiring different maps. How would you guys handle the route planning?

Install a "Plus" map. They have European major route planing with street level maping for the specific map.
e.g Spain to Germany, install German Plus and you can get from Spain along major roads to a street in Germany.
