I've looked hard in the forum but I can't find what I'm looking for.
My question is can I use any SD card in the c320? I just want to add more space.
Thanks in advance, Peter. |

Yes any SD Card Will Work With The C320.
But You Must Uplpoad Your Maps Using The Garmin Software.
The Bigger The Card The More Maps You Can Put On.
Hope This Helps You.

I use the c310 and the SD card does not appear to have anything t do with POI's at all (I tested it by replacing the supplied V8 (SD) of the Mapping S/w with one of V7).
The POI's I had loaded in were still there using the V7 card, which tends to suggest that the card does not hold the POI's.
I was told by someone from Garmin that the 'Unit will hold around 22MB of POI's after the basic Mapping has been placed in Memory'. This also seems to imply the foregoing - ie that the Maps are on the SD card and the Routing Software and POI's etc. are 'in the machine' so to speak.
The c320 may be different but I don't think so from the way the conversation with 'Garmin' went. |

Further to my above post:-
It also seems impossible to copy the mapping S/w in a usable fashion to another bigger card.
I tried it with the i3 and the c310 and whilst it would 'copy over', when the bigger card was inserted, it (the unit) just asked for the map card to be inserted - someone on this site (elsewhere, cannot remember where), suggested that the SD stands for 'Secure Digital' (true, it was developed to prevent piracy), amd that it was about the only thing that the industry has got right - it IS secure.
So, on the face of it, don't waste your money on a bigger card.
Also, again somewhere else on this site, it has been suggested that over 20K worth of POI's can be uploaded. Someone has said they got 40K. I personally have 28,112 - the whole Speed camera database along with a lot of the 'GarminPOI's from MaFt - not all, it wouldn't 'go' but a lot - no ASDA/Tesco stuff (remember there's shops and things in the Garmin on delivery). So there must be around 40K in total. |

Hello djtony!
I also have a streetpilot c320 and I just bought a 1Gb card. When I try to download maps onto my new card with the Garmin software MapInstall (I also tried it with Mapsource), it says to plug it to my computer (with an image on the GPS screen). What am I doing wrong ? How can I do it correctly ?
Please help !!!
