Can anyone point me in the direction of a curly fag-lighter to mini-USB lead? The USB end doesn't need to be right-angled particularly.

I know that quite a few modern mobile phones use mini-USB for charging - but I'm not sure of specific models.

I did have a quick look on eBay, but everyone seems to use generic pictures - so you can't see exactly what you're getting.

You could also use an ipod car charger with a standard "USB to mini USB" cable.
Should deliver a voltage close to 5V (is it too much for the i3 ?) but worth to check !

If its the same as a c320 you can use an Original Motorola v3 charging cable. You can even buy the right angled adapter if required.

Funny you should say that, I've just ordered a v3 charging lead - I'll post an update once it arrives... Wink

This is the seller I bought from on ebay - despite the fact that the seller has no picture I can confirm that it has a right angle connector and the coiled lead you are looking for.

Thanks for the tip-off greeny67
I've been looking for a couple of these to use on the bike/ wifes car so I don't have to take my nice fitted lead out of the car.
At £5.50 for 2 (including postage), it's a steal. Laughing

[quote="greeny67"]I can confirm that it has a right angle connector and the coiled lead you are looking for.

Thanks, greeny67. Mine arrived today - good service and excellent price. Has a straight connector, not right-angled, but still preferable to the long lead on the original.

Was hoping for an angled one, though Sad Maybe I'll e-mail him and see if he can swap it.

Just realised the curly lead doesn't have the little cylindrical unit which, I believe, reduces the power delivered to the i3 from 12v to 5v.

Is it possible this is done by a different means with this lead, or will it deliver the full 12v, and therefore be unsuitable for the i3?

The cylinder is a ferrite choke, used to help suppress electrical noise - it has nothing to do with the voltage. The voltage regulator is contained within the (oversize) cigarette-lighter plug itself.

If your new lead has the same plug on it as your original lead (ie: mini-USB), then you will be fine ;)

Thanks very much, Ash10. Sorry if it was a stupid question. Stupid

In case anyone else is thinking of ordering, I emailed the supplier, who says he has none with a right-angled connector and offered a refund. I declined - for £2.95 it's hardly worth it, and I'll use it until I can find what I want. I think he has constantly changing stock, so it's probably pot luck what you get.
