I am going on hols soon and fancied trying to track my flight using my GPS system. What I am after is a reasonably sized map of the world which will interface to my Emtac, preferably free? I know that TOMTOM has one on the GPS status screen but I was looking for one a little larger than that.

Have you thought of using actual aviation maps, readable by Memory Map etc.
Aeroplanner.com have downloadable aviation maps , scale 1:1,000,000 for the world. Europe,e.g costs about 15$.
I use these for actual navigation and they show major topo detail.
