The iTrek is a serial mouse GPS receiver and sold by Semsons in America. The mouse is a re-badged GlobalSat BR305 and can be connected to over a dozen different types of PDA as well as standard 9 pin Serial and USB devices.

Dave,

Did you get a chance to evaluate the i.Trek BT receiver? Who manufactures this device? Is it Holux who manufactures the same i.Trek and Holux CF receivers?

Darren has mentioned that he currently has a purplegrid bt gps on test at the moment - this is the same unit - I have one and overall I'm very pleased with it - PM me for more info.

Hi iancjc
i've been reading forums in here for 2 weeks trying to find somebody like you i guess. i'm in the IT (retail sector) and usually pretty good with technology but i cannot, for the life of me, get my gps working. I've read all my manuals and other online info and followed step by step, tried different combos of ports & bauds

Here's my specs:
Axim x51v running windows mobile 5.0
SmartST v3
I.Trek BT GPS

When pairing my axim to the gps, it reads "BT GPS" as the device with a yellow question mark.

Axim has a GPS option in settings which i'm not real sure about but i tried combinations with that aswell

I did notice in Bluetooth settings though that BT GPS is connected to COM8 yet this is not available from the list in SmartST setting.

I guess I'm looking for some sort of doco that reads "in axim, do blah blah. in smartst, do blah blah"

Hope you can help or guide me in the right direction.

I've just upgraded my x50v to WM5 running ttn5 with the bt77.

In BT manager

under mode tab

tick in turn on bluetooth

also I had a tick in discoverable whilst I was sorting out the pairing

Devices I have the gps unit paired.

I then selected new outtgoing port and matched the gps to com 8

In the gps app in settings

I have GPS program port COM3 selected

under hardware tab I have

gps hardware port COM8 selected
baud rate 33600

under access atb

I have ticked manage gps automatically

In tomtom

under the gps settings I have selected

Other bluetooth gps (ie not tomtoms own)

GPS is connected to COM8

this all works - initially I thought I should be connecting to COM3 but this didn't work.

COM8 works no problem

I don't know what the gps setting look like for you but I guess they should be broadly similar.

Hope this helps

Ian

Thanks for all of that Ian. My setup still does not work, I think it may be that com8 which my gps receiver is connected to does not come up as an option in my smartst software. I might contact Navman and ask how i can get this sorted.

many thanks again Smile
