Good morning,
Can any say with authority whether or not TomTom Navigator 5 is compatible with the Palm T/X?
I have seen that it IS, but on TomTom's page it is not listed as a compatible model. I don't put too much faith in that, however, because my iPaq isn't listed as a compatible model either, and I've been happily using TomTom on it for over a year.
My dad's having installation problems on his new Palm T/X and I'm wondering if it is a compatibility problem.
Thanks! |

I believe TX is a fully supported model and IS listed on Tomtom's site as compatible:
http://www.tomtom.com/products/features.php?ID=109&Language=1
You may run into the occasional problem with the TX's small dynamic heap, but nothing a soft reset won't fix. |

Thanks for your reply. I've spent some time searching the 'net today and have come to the same conclusion. My dad (who is actually pretty computer savvy for a 60 year old) is having problems with his installation. I recommended he verify that he is installing on the memory card and not on the PDA itself to minimize the RAM used.
If anyone has any hints I'm all ears. Thanks again! |

I have TTN5 running on my T|X, used with the Delorme BlueLogger. Excellent combination. So definitely compatible.
If you can provide additional details on exactly where his problems are, hopefully we can figure out how to fix them.
While the TTN5 software is quite good, the installation process can be cumbersome, and not helped at all by poor/absent support from TomTom themselves. This forum should be on their payroll because they provide the customer service that TomTom doesn't.
Hopefully we can get your Dad up and running.
P.S. I'm 55, and I fix my children's computers/hardware/software!! |

Thanks. If you´ve loaded it on your T/X then that eliminates one possible cause of the problem - incompatibility.
I'll give him a call later this evening and we'll try something else. I'll make sure he is installing the program on the memory card and not the PDA itself, and then I'll have him tell me what it does. It apparently freezes when you try to load the program but I don't have sufficient detail to really say much.
I live in Spain and he is in Arizona, so we've got a little time-zone issue to deal with but we'll get it! |
