Hi,

I would like to know if the activesync backup/restore utility backs-up the whole unit including the registry and every single file in each of the folders?

Yes

If you check for instructions on performing a hard reset on your device then it should confirm this (as a backup is the first thing it asks you - if possible)

Just noticed this post, and wanted to add that on my 3970 (purchased May `03, now repaired twice), i have NEVER been able to successfully restore a backup from within Activesync - fortunately the first thing i did when i upgraded from my 3870 to this machine, was go and buy the SpriteSoftware backup upgrade.

Anyway, back to Active sync. It SEEMS to successfully backup when asked. however, when i try and restore that (activesync) backup file, i just get a "cannot restore - backup created on a different device" type error, or also i've seen a "file corrupt" error too.

Is ANYONE able to restore from a backup created within A/S???

I tried several restores with ActiveSync back in the Casio E105 Palm PC days, and got caught out, and I swore to myself that I'd never use AS Backup again.

Some people don't have any trouble, but I've heard a lot of people still complaining about restore failures.
