Well folks,

Since getting the i3 as a gift for xmas past ive been keen but cautious to open the unit and attach a female jack connector so i can plug my motorcycle helmet ino it for the vocals,

Well today i done it, i opened the unit up, drilled a small 4mm hole in the back, soldered the plug on and put it all back, warranty now out the window but hey, its now doing the job it wa intended for!

so for anyone curious as to whether it would work, i can proudly say it does!

roll on the summer............................. 8)

Hi Alan,

yeah, direct tag straight off the internal speaker, so the internal still orks for in the car, and then just plug into the rear for the bike, pretty simple, but then its normally the simplest of things that make all the difference :P

that's just what I want to do with mine. Have you a digi photo showing where you drilled the hole and fitted the female jack connector Question

this would also be useful to connect it to a car stereo too if you needed that extra volume. lots of new stereo's have a jack/aux input.

MaFt,

This is very true but for the real techhies you can buy an FM Transmitter from e-bay for a few quid, they work similar to a car baby, its about the size of an mp3 player and plugs into a jack socket, then tune i nearby radio to around 87.3fm and the vocals will be transmitted though this, this may help some of the bigger touring bikes that may have FM interface lids, without adding more wires to there lids already!! 8) 8) 8)

Yup - your picture works just fine. Most mini jacks can be wired to cut out tyhe main speaker too - which is what I plan to do. Now you've taken the plunge and done it (which shows there must be enough room inside I defo going to do it! All we need now is a waterproof jacket that still makes the screen readable. Freezer bags are bot that good for visibility!
