Have seen the Igb microdrives for as little as 130 gbp on the web. Are there any issues in using these large storage devices with a Navman 3400 sleeve?????

Sad Sadly in my experience the Navman 3450 sleeve is not compatible with "high current" devices such as the magicstor 2.2GB CF II (www.gs_magicstor.com). I purchased this wonderful little device off eBay to use with my Navman 3450 to store most of the Europe maps, and with spare capacity for AVIs, etc. Whilst the drive itself is quite happy, and I am able to use it even when not connect to a power source, the Navman SmartST software isn't happy. Each time the software accesses the drive for map data the excess current causes the 3450 to loose GPS lock. I have been on to Navman Europe support (01293 780 500, opt 1, opt 2) and eventually they have suggested that I can't use the CF drive but it has taken many many weeks to get this far! In order to provide European support coverage many of their support staff are not native English speakers, my 2nd language is very poor German, so there has been much confusion. Add to this a lack of consistency in following my enquiries and they have been about as much use as a chocolate teapot! Their saving grace is that they exist - have you tried getting hold of support for TomTom? So to cut a long story short, if you want to use the CF slot in the Navman sleeve make sure it is a "low current" device. Strangely enough when I tried using TomTom Navigator 2 with the entire UK map held on the CF drive (located in the Navman 3450 sleeve) it works perfectly? Obviously these 2 products must access map data in entirely different ways.
