At randomn intervals the program stops and says it has lost it connection to the gps reciever. The reconnect option does not work. Often need a full reset of the phone to cure the fault. Anyone else finding this? And any ideas?

Have you established a 'pairing' between your phone and the gps receiver? If not then try creating one and set the gps as 'authorised'.

Yep paired and authorised, have informed route 66 support and they are investigating. Also am going to try the same trick as the tom tom software of letting mobile 7 do the pairing.

Although using a jabra bluetooth headset poses no apparant problems when running mobile 7, it does not keep giving voice instructions and it allows the phone to revert back to the normal screen when a call is taken. You can see the map by picking mobile 7 from the active programs list, but once the call is finshed it recalculates the route.

Fun how a lot of these problems where present in the 2005 version of the software and needed fixing!

When it runs, its a great program although some of its routes are a bit suspect. Also what is the urban percentage for?????

I think these problems may be due to a flaw in the bluetooth handling on the N70. TomTom Mobile users report similar problems with the N70. Supposedly, the resolution is to get the N70 flashed with a firmware update: V 3.0546.2.3 18-11-05 RM-84. I plan to get mine done next week.

Ok removing the pairing with the gps reciever and turning all the poi off has resulted in a much more stable state. Did a 90min journey though central London no problem plus required satalite and updated poistion accurately when siganl loss due to urban canyons! Will have to now wait for a vodafone version of the version 3 firmware....

When an incomming call comes up is sends the application in background (this is the normal way to do it in S60 phones). The voice instructions are muted because I don't think you'd like to hear them also when you're phoning with somebody. The route is recalculated after the call ends because during call the memory used by the application is minimized to avoid crashes related to "Not enough memory" from call application routines. This minimization of the memory used breakes the existing route and that's why they call for re-calculation when call ends (and, implicitly, the quantity of memory used goes back to normal).

To calculate more accurate ETA and RTT.

I'm taking mine to get it flashed tomorrow. Going to use Route66 to get me there, note how it does and then to get me home once its been redone.

Looks like the firmware upgrade has helped overcome the N70 issues with TomTom >> http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=34503

Anyone tried it with R66 yet?

Hi...

I'm the guy who made the post you linked to.

It has also solved the problem I had in Route 66 with losing GPS.

Also, the update to Mobile 7 (7.03??) resolves alot of issues where Route 66 would fail to recognise the urban portion of a journey resulting in some bad route planning and no difference in estimated times no matter what you set the percentages to. With the update, alot of issues seem to have been resolved although the GPS receiver loss seems to be a N70 bluetooth firmware one.

I've been using Mobile 7 for some time now and have had the same problem with a 6680 losing visibility of the GPS despite being set to 'authorised'. This would never happen mid-route but only when the phone is powered off for a while (and won't re-partner when it's turned back on requiring a power cycle of the phone).

Malcolm.
