I have an ipaq 1910 loaded with tt5.1 which is fine in the car using an all-in-one gps receiver/ampifier/charger, but I'd like to be able to use it when out walking. I've seen gps receivers advertised on ebay but they seem to need to be fitted int the SD card slot. It seems to me that I wouldn't be able to use the maps as there is only one slot.

Does anyone know if there is a two card adaptor, or if there is any sort of gps receiver that connects to the socket on the bottom of the pda please?

Hi

Unfortunately I do not think that you're going to be able to achieve what you want with your particular PDA as a GPS receiver cannot be connected to the serial port on the 1910, and I've never heard of a SD doubler for a PDA.

The only problem you have is your PDA does not support SDIO, SDIO was brought out on the 1940 and above range of iPAQ's as the 1910 was out for a while before the 1940 where released.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Crying or Very sad

You could always update your PDA Wink

Thanks Everyone. You've confirmed my suspicions. I was only really interested for finding our way when walking round cities when on holiday so it's not a serious problem. I can still use it as a street map & route planner. It just won't know where we are.

Living in the Channel Islands I only use it for driving a couple of times a year when on holiday so it isn't worth the extra expense of upgrading as it works perfectly using the car unit which has an infra red connector on the cradle & has a built in gps receiver & amplifier. Bought new on ebay for about £80 if anyone is interested.

Yes, that's why I can only use it when on holiday. When using the France map the outline of the Islands' coasts appear with your position and direction of travel shown, but there is no mapping.

I did ask about Channel Islands mapping on the TTN forum last year & was told that there are some other navigation software that cover the islands, eg Mapopolis so it's worth looking round if you want to visit us. As I know my way round pretty well & already have TTN5, I'm not inclined to spend any more to change to another system.
