I'm looking for my first gps unit. Will be using it on riding trails, hiking and fishing trips (stream fishing) to mark poi's. Looking for something that can download maps. I nice big screen would be nice, doesn't have to have a color screen. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

(to mark poi's) That might be the wrong termoligy. What I mean is my favorite spots.........I'm new to GPS so I;m trying to learn

Hi Randydan,

I have a Meridian Clour and use the UK TOPO (Magellan) maps - whilst these are not 100% accurate theygive a good indication of the ground and water areas as well as the topo lines. I use mine for walking and I find it very useful. I like the feel of the Meridian, not small or very light, but I can easily use it with gloves during the cold weather - the colour screen works well and I manage to use 2500mA rechargeables with no problems.
