Lutz

I have poicapture fully installed and passed a mobile camera which I recorded. I am now ready to upload the file but when I look at the pocketgpscameras .ov2 file it shows as size=0. Does this mean it hasn;t captured the camera Question Question

That is possible if the map reload hasn't worked. Can you please poke the reset hole, and then try again?

(we're waiting for a fix from TomTom)

Lutz,

While you are on the subject, can you tell me where in the sequence of tapping icons is the actual GPS reading taken (not the POI written to file)? For instance, is it after the "Capture POI" icon on menu 1 or is it only after all the desions have been made and the last icon is tapped? I'm sure you realise this can affect the number of misplaced recordings, but I'm just interested how I need to behave to get more accurate recordings?

Hi DerekG,

POI Capture uses the longitude and latitude at the time that you press the POI Capture button on the menu.

POI Capture remembers that information (and your direction of travel) and waits for you to add the other attributes for the site (camera type, speed, and finally this/other side). Once you’ve added all those attributes POI Capture records them together with longitude and latitude and compass bearing in the PocketGPScameras.ov2 file.

Regards,

Robert,

Thanks for the "heads up" on exactly when the timings are taken.

Lutz,

I've just discovered (the hard way) that the precedence for processing the SDK menu .cap files is based on time order only, not date and time as you'd expect (see earlier post). As you say, a bit embarrassing for some TomTom programmer (somewhere)?

Thanks to you both for your help.

Derek

Hi,

Firstly thanks for creating such a great application - I'll be submitting confirmation of all my local camera's, together with speed and direction later this month.

My only complaint, is that the Mobile Phone icon I use to initiate the handsfree kit has moved to menu page 4. I know it's a very minor thing, but I'd really like to have it on page 1.

Is there any easy way to do this, and am I right in thinking one of the icons on page 1 is the most frequently used one? (I currently have 2 Add Favourite icons, one on page 1, and one on page 3).

Hope someone can help.
Don.

Glad you like the application, we look forward to receiving your confirmation of your local cameras. Thumbs Up

We had to create generic menus for each TomTom product that would suit the majority. However everybody has his or her own requirements for each page of the menu. Fortunately the TomTom menus are easy to customise to your own specific requirements.

You should have a folder on your TomTom unit that is called "SdkRegistry" and in that folder you will have the file that defines the menu, which is called tomtom.mnu.

Before you go any further, make sure that you at least have a backup of the original tomtom.mnu file, but a full back up of your application and storage card is recommended.

Use Microsoft Notepad to open the tomtom.mnu file. The code will contain a line, which refers to the mobile phone (call number option):

Code:
TASK_DIAL_POI

Just swap two menu options around. Save the new menu and copy it back to your TomTom unit.

Regards,

try 1.03G - the older version will most probably not work.

Any reason why you don't upgrade to 5.420 ?
