Error after updating GPS

Hi,
my dad is having problems with his gps. Computers is not his best side so i consider it a duty to help him. Im not sure this where the right forum to post this in but im so gad damn tired, i have allready been trying to fix it for a while.

Well, the problem is that after he updated his GPS, is stopped working. The screen just turns white and blank when its started.

He bought his MAGELLAN Meridian Color second hand and he didnt got any CD:s or manuals with the GPS (stupid seller!). But he did download an manual from the internet and it should be the proper manual. The manual described how to update the GPS, and it linked to an internet page, where he could download the update which was v. 4.05. My dad did need help to do this stuff but it was my little brother that helped him this time im not really sure what they did. Howerer, the GPS stopped work. Also, the program MAGUP which updates the GPS cant even find the GPS anymore

How can i fix this?
