I have been experimenting with TomTom 5 and Copilot 6 running on a single Dell Axim X50v under the 2003 OS, and they seem to coexist quite happily. I run them completely separately, and don't attempt to run either in the background.

One thing that I do have to do is to run TT 5 from the CF card and CP 6 from the SD card. When I installed both on the I Gig SD , which had plenty of space to spare, TT 5 would run once only then I'd get an error meaage to the effect that a component of the TT 5 could not be found.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced anything like this, or has any explanation?

this is a timing issue. you need to give the PocketPC about five seconds after wakeup before you start anything from SD card. Apart from that there's no reason for the apps to be on separate cards.

Thanks for your note about double posting on the simnlar thread I created on the Copilot forum.

I had thought it reasonable to post on both forums as the topic was relevant to both groups of users. Of course, I won't do similar in the future if, on reflection, you insist.

Yes, I just noticed that the thread on the CoPilot forum had been locked and thought that it was a very harsh stance by the moderators.

I thought that it perfectly acceptable to post on both forums as they are valid questions for both systems.

How many people actually use both CP & TT and would actually notice (or even care one iota) if it had been posted twice.

Lighten up you lot.

Sorry to drag this one on, Lutz but waiting for a period has not solved the problem.

I thought it worth adding that TomTom Navigator is greyed out in the list of recently-run programmes.

Also, I tested the SD card yesterday, by writing to it until full and copying the whole card back onto hard disk. It still appears OK when I put it in a card reader and look under Properties.

Greyed out? What operating system is that?

If that happens, is just TomTom unable to start or are other programs on that SD card affected as well ?

Sorry, Lutz. I don't think my terminology was too clear. What I meant was that the red TomTom hands logo was replaced in the list by a blank box. It is the 2003 OS.

I think I'm getting somewhere now. There are actually two copies of the TT 5 startup logo under Programs. Presumably, one is for the CF and the other for the SD. The one called from the Today screen must be the CF card, which I removed to see if it would run from the SD card. I suppose that would explain why I got the failure.

I'll re-install so there's only one installation and try again.

Thanks.

Having re-installed and waited the 5 seconds as advised, I've finally got there.

Thanks again for the advice.

On the point of double posting, such postings usually both get answers, and we feel that it's advantageous to have all the answers in one thread. Duplicating the answers takes up valuable space and splits the answers up.

I agree, Tim but, with respect, that addresses only part of the matter in question. Had Lutz put in a link to the TomTom forum version of my question and said something like "any answers to here", that would have followed your logic perfectly. However, the thread was merely locked and thereby became a dead end as far as any responses were concerned.
