Buying TT GO maps second hand

I am thinking of buying "Maps of Western Europe" CD second hand for my TT GO 500. Am I likely to encounter any problems (e.g. with activation) given that these maps have already been used on another unit.

Indeed. Worst case is that the previous owner has already used up two activations and you have to wait up to six months to actually be able to use them.

Thanks for that. Looks like it may be a bad idea to buy 2nd hand maps.
