| hi , i have a toshiba e750 wifi with a belkin cf bluetooth module fitted and am wanting to purchase a bt receiver, is the tom tom bt receiver a good choice because i may want to use it with tom tom mobile 5 also, and have heard that the software is only set up for tom toms own receiver on the phone. also what about best price,any suggestion folks? thanks |

Hi humber,
Any bluetooth will work, however the trick is to make the software think it has found the TomTom receiver. So you will need to change the name of your receiver within Bluetooth Manager to TomTom Wireless GPS MkII (Case sensitive).
As all legitimate TomTom MOBILE 5 software is only available as part of a bundle, complete with TomTom Wireless receiver, you will always have this GPS as back up. We've had no complaints from anyone using this GPS receiver.

Err - is this correct? I have seen several legitimate retailers selling TT5 without TT's receiver - or is it my imagination?
As for the first bit - how come my Ipaq and TT5 talks to my Parrot BT sat nav receiver without any renaming? Although like a lot of others on this forum I had to lie to TT5 and say it was a serial receiver not BT. |

It's perfectly legal to split up packs and sell off the bits individually. |

Hi peterc10,
I think you may be a little confused, the discussion thread is about TomTom MOBILE 5 (for SmartPhone), not NAVIGATOR 5(for Pocket PC/Palm).
NAVIGATOR 5 is very easy to split boxes and sell components seperately as the software is compatible with many different units.
However MOBILE 5 is much more product specific and therefore not as easy to split. This is why most software only versions of MOBILE 5 are appearing on eBay and not through legitimate resellers.
As Mark mentioned it is perfectly legal to split TomTom packs and sell them separately, only TomTom themselves will be in a position to complain about this.

| Oops .... sorry. Since the Toshiba is a PDA not a mobile phone I assumed that we were talking about TT5. |

Possibly Humber got a little mixed up also, but I think we have covered both NAVIGATOR 5 and MOBILE 5 bases

This is not correct for the e750. I've got TTN5 (which is, I think, what humber is using) and a sysonchip smart blue mini and I did not have to change it's name at all. TT found it in a second without changing anything.

Sorry! my mistake for not reading the first post correctly. I don't know about TT mobile.... But works fine with TTN.
