lbendlin is right: zooming in does show the street names. However, as with most things that get said in favour of Copilot, he is only partially right. In fact, he has missed out a great deal that you need to know about this topic.

In zooming in far enough to see the street names, you will make the scale so large that you will see so little of the area concerned that you will often lose track of whereabouts on the map you are. You might try scrolling or panning, but Copilot's scrolling and panning are poor to say the least - particularly on a VGA hand-held. Again, you will be lucky if you can keep track of the position you want on the map. Matters are made even worse because the scale increases every time the cursor touches the screen.

So, rajivmehra, you hit the nail firmly on the head. Whatever else Copilot might be, it is no substitute for a paper map.

Hmmm Interesting!

But Destinator works perfectly as a map alternative. Of course you ahve to be soomed enough to see street names. If you zoom out a bit it still shows you the names of bigger streets.
Ifyou zoom out even more it will show you only the names of major highways.

Overall, it works well. Especially the version 3. That has excellent map scrolling and dragging capabilities.

Is a demo of co-pilot available (like destinator's)??

rajivmehra's description of Destinator's street name display is, of course, how the real-world user would hope (expect?) all Pocket PC-based satnav packages to behave. It is therefore fair enough that he is sceptical of what I say about Copilot. I wouldn't have believed it myself 12 months ago.

However, this reality gap - between what would reasonably be expected and what really happens (not to mention between what is promised and what one gets) - is all too frequently to be found in CP 5, I am afraid.

As you say, ravivmehra, a demo would be very useful to those who have not yet taken the plunge. I have never asked for one, so I wish you luck if you do so.

If I understand correctly, CoPilot are the only ones who offer you your money back if you are not satisfied after a certain time - effectively a demo I suppose.

I don't know the exact terms (ie re-stocking fee, postage costs, or conditions) to know just how good the offer is.
