I have wired my Co-Pilot jacket so I only get power to it when the key is turned. I tend to leave it in the car but remove the iPAQ from it.

Bearing in mind that the jacket has an internal battery, would I gain anything in terms of fix times if I were to rewire it so it had power all the time?

Yes, if it was hardwired to the power, then you would get an almost instant fix.

Thanks Dave, but is that still the case if the iPAQ is NOT left in the jacket. i.e. is the jacket intelligent by itself.

AFAIK It would not provide any benefit connecting it in this matter if an iPAQ was not connected to the jacket. Supplying the jacket with power on it's own does not allow it to acquire a fix independently.

Sorry, you would need to leave the iPAQ connected also, because the jackets all need to be soft powered on to allow it to use the iPAQ's processor to obtain a fix.
