Just been driving around spain which gave me a great chance to really test TTN5. Have read the problems people have with the software and the expectations they have. Myself I have made the ajustment to the new TTN5 and put up with some of the changes made. Having driven around spain I found it to be Fantatstic, yes it was that good!! The good lady always got me out of trouble when I went wrong and this happened quite often in the major cities, what with driving on the other side of the road and driving a left hand car, road signs were the last thing on my mind. Why did I keep going wrong?? Spain for some reason have decided to start putting in roundabouts where there were none. TTN5 of course does not know this and you end up going up the wrong road, however I was corrected each time. If you are going to spain in the direction of valencia/Alicante beware of the roundabouts!! I accept the limitations of TTN5, but what it does do it does very well.

Hi Gary,

Funny you should mention that - I've just come back from Andalucia as well and found exactly that. Lots of missing roundabouts! But usally the directions (go left, go right) were pretty good otherwise. Just had to keep your wits about you at some junctions!

One thing that did niggle me and I don't know if you experienced this, but in comparison to the UK maps, there are a hell of a lot of Spanish roads that are just "unnamed road". Including the roads that my apartment and hotel were on... made it quite difficult to find them. Are the other European maps the same (I'm gonna be using the french maps at xmas) ?

I know several people who have moved to France - they tell me that many roads just have no name - and houses have no numbers. Postmen do what was common in the UK 50 years ago - they deliver using just their local knowlege. I once addressed a letter to Les Rosbifs, [the nearest village],[Departement], France, and it got there.

TomTom I have found to be very good in France. Yes quite a few roads in the smaller villages have no name in TomTom but also in real life! If you in a small village just find the local bar/cafe and ask showing them the TT map.

That sounds promising then!

In Spain the roads did actually have names (at least some of them), which made searching for the place a bit tricky. Never mind!

I have travelled in France with TT5.01, Ipaq 2210 and a BT receiver and found it indispensable. I found that if a road does have a name then TT5 also has the name. Even some of the very small roads/dirt tracks came up with their names on the PDA. I was very surprised.
