HI, having purchased a nokia 6600 , tom tom 5 software and a 256 mmc card am now looking to purchase the final piece in the jigsaw !! ie. the sat nav receiver.

from looking around ebay the most poular one seems to be the one advertised as the BT77 ?? 16 channel bluetooth, 20 hour batter life etc with a price normally between £45 and £50.

are these the one to go for ?? anyone vouch for there performance ??have seen a few uk sellers on ebay with very good feedback so quite happy to purchase one from there just needing a bit off reasurance that these particular receivers offer good enough performance ??!!

any advice would be most appreciatted, plan to purchase soon so would apprecaite some quick response to this question :D
cheers,
john

if you can afford it, stay clear of non- SiRF III receivers.

sirf III is a receiver system that allows you to pick up sattalites in places you normaly can't, it can work out a position from the signal bouncing off of things, buildings, mountains, etc.

very simple explanation but may help

i use fortuna slim, another is the bt338 or tomtom new receiver.

I do know the BT-77, and I do not think it is worth purchasing.

Ive just posted my views in another thread (what reciever?) but my thoughts are if you dont live in the center of a large city and dont want to use it while walking the BT-77 is a good choice.
Done over 1200 mile in a week with the BT-77 with no problems in various cars. cant get a fix in town though when walking.
ive had both and would recomend a Serf3 one though. worth the extra £30.
The BT-77 come in various guises and they are all pretty much the same. just different cables etc depending on who you buy it from. The BT-338 is the Serf3 version from Globalsat.

Dave.
