We had a good response from our feature on Channel 5's Fifth Gear and I'm actively trying to get a mention on other progs and publications (we were also in last months T3 Magazine). _________________ Darren Griffin |

This isn't something we do often but I thought it opportune to highlight our recently introduced PayPal donation facility.
Available at bottom left of most pages and prominent on the UK Safety Camera Pages, if you use our database and like it we would welcome a donation. All donations are welcomed however small and go towards the running costs of a site that now requires two servers and consumes over 300GB of bandwidth every month and increasing!
End of sermon
On a separate note, we have considered posting our own 'Official' eBay Sale of our database as a method of defeating the leeches, what is the general consensus on this, good or bad idea? _________________ Darren Griffin |

it is a difficult situation as the database is partially compiled by people who are not affiliated with pocketgps world in a sense for pocketgps world claim sole rights over this camera information
i think the only way to get rid of this is for the gps team to charge say £1.00 for all new updates
id happily pay it and it would stop this, well it may not stop it but it would give you a little for your hard work at least |

They even use images of my web site to promote their items that can be found on the forum here for free. Still I did add a little extra to the image, again for free.

And here on the forum is the Author of the eBay add that was using images from my web site, even used the same name here as on eBay.
Thanks Scott Lewis |

You could also list on eBay on the 'About Me Pages' Here for free. |

I recently purchased a Mio 168 with TT5 from Global positioning systems. whilst I am very happy with the product and the service they provided, they are still offering "free speed camera database" which you recieve in an email link after the purchase has been made. Follow the link and it takes you straight to the Pocket GPS World speed camera database. |

We are in discussions with Global Positioning Systems, they have added an acknowledgment that the database is ours although the link is incorrect! _________________ Darren Griffin

As long as the database is to remain free (I hope it does), how about promoting on EBay as a FREE product? Is this possible (with perhaps EBay's help)? Why would people buy it if they see PGPSW offering it from free ;-).

The problem there is we would still have to pay eBay charges so need to set a price that covers the auction listing fee. It will always remain FREE here but I was thinking of a nominal £1 fee for eBay where we would email the database to the recipient.
The listing would clearly state that it's FREE here but if they prefer it sent to them via email they can have it for £1. _________________ Darren Griffin |

... unless you had EBay's support in using this technique to stop the copyright issues that they are otherwise "promoting". Just an idea...
