Everybody who has registered so far has a place. I have been bogged down with organising the GPS companies and have not had the time to confirm places yet. These emails will be going out today.

Sorry for the delay.

Is anybody interested in car share from London on the morning of the meet? I'll be driving from North London, setting off at about 8:00.

Thanks for the registration. My colleague and I are developers working on a new PocketPC/Gps related application. Our current application is aimed at commercial (notably security) interests.

Will commercial representatives be there as well as non-commercial users of GPS?

Thanks

I suspect that's by train. From Basingstoke it's a good 2.5hrs. And it's worth mentioning that the South Wales Safety Camera Partnership regularly occupy positions on bridges over the M4 between Magor and Newport, they've done this for some years with none of the press fuss the Wiltshire initiative received. If you're driving obey the limits and keep your eyes peeled!

Indeed! I almost got done by one on the overpass on the M4 in Wales. The tracklog from the GPS said I was doing 80 MPH at the time too. 8O

You could have picked a slightly harder-to-find location to test people's GPS systems though. Wink From London, it's get on the M4 drive 100 or so miles then exit when you see the Celtic Manor up on the hill (you can't miss it).

Last time I went to Wales I set a couple of waypoints in the Cotswolds and took the scenic route. Lovely scenery and not too many speed cameras there either. :D

There will be representatives from a number of different areas including retailers, distributors and manufacturers.

Hmmm, I'm just wondering how many people are going to actually make it..... ???

According to the hotel's directions it's "As you are approaching on the M4, exit the M4 at Junction 24. At the roundabout take the B4237 towards Newport".

Junction 24 doesn't have a B4237 according to every map I've looked at. South of J24 is A48 and A455 and North is A449 and A48.

Lets hope it's better sign posted on the road!

According to directions, NAVTEQ's POI is incorrect as the Hotel says cross the M4 overpass but the NAVTEQ POI's for Celtic Manor are south of the M4. So beware, I think the POI's are wrong.

Just in case anyone isn't aware, non residents parking is free (open air for 500 cars), after this it's charged at £3 for 4-8 hours or £6 for 8-24 hours.

In TT V5 if you put the full Postcode in it takes you via the B4236. It's the 2nd exit at J24 (A48). After some 1100 yards, turn right onto B4236 Royal Oak Hill.

About 1 mile along you reach your destination.

Hope this helps

Ah right, that's the confusing part of the instructions. The Celtic Manor website says take the B4237 not B4236. I can see A48 The Coldra on the map as the second exit off the roundabout and I can see the B4236 on the right 300 yards up the A48 but couldn't find the B4237 anywhere ?!

Its getting ridiculous when dave one of the founders is looking at maps rather than using his pda Exclamation

You'll just have to GO with a TT5 variant, complete with Postcodes. Wink .... but it's a lot more than 300 yards of the A48!
