One of the best features for me in Tomtom3 is the ability in the map view to reset the GPS to current location,

I use the UK map a lot and then go to work in Los Angeles, once there load the US Map and just click on the map and select reset GPS to this position, that way the GPS locks within 30secs to 1Min, unlike the 45mins it can take if it has to do a full unknown location search

I can't belieive this feature is missing from TT5!!! (Unless I have missed it and someone else has found it), but I don't think I missed it, Really useful feature that needs to be there in some form!

The feature has gone - the GPS driver architecture in Navigator 5 is completely different to that in Navigator 3 and earlier.

I'd be very surprised if the sort of move you described took 45 minutes for a lock, though if it's taking excessively long, you could install Winfast Navigator, and try a warm reset of the GPS hardware (from memory that's the one hard enough to wipe a memorised position, but not hard enough to trash the almanac).

I find that a SiRFstar IIe/LP based GPS, as many of us are using unless you happen to have one of the new SiRFstar III GPSes, will usually lock from a cold reset in less than a minute.
