On the Navman support site it says the GPS 3400 is compatible with the H3660 but NOT the H3630, but the GPS 3300 is compatible with both. What are the limitations of the H3630 that makes it incompatible with the GPS 3400 as I thought the GPS 3300 & 3400 were very similar except for the 3400 being of a newer design?

Thanks

Andy

It might be that it's more of a software issue than a hardware one. The 3300 shipped with SmartEXplorer which is non-voice, non-routing topographical software. The 3400 shipped with SmartST which is probably more memory-hungry.

I thought of that but the site doesn't state anything about software - the Navman 3300 and 3400 are just hardware and not packages with hardware and software (i.e. shipped without SmartEXplorer or SmartST). The Hardware compatibility matrix also shows that the iPAQ H3830 is compatible with the GPS 3300 but NOT the 3400 - its a bit weird as I thought these were all pretty similar?

What are the functional differences between the iPAQ H3630 & H3660 and also the H3830 & the H3835?

Thanks

Andy

As far as I'm aware, the 3300 came with SmartEXplorer and was called the Navman Terrain and the 3400 shipped with SmartST. The sleeve on its own was called, whether officially by Navman or not I don't know, the 3100. The original sleeve (without the external antenna socket) was the Navman 3000.

I think the difference between the 3630 and 3660 is the amount of memory. The 3830 and 3835 are the same device. One is for the consumer market and comes in a pretty box with added software, the other is for corporate sales and comes in a plain box. They did this with other models, too.
