I have TT Navigator on my Pocket PC. I have read about the new TT version 5. Is this for Navigator or not? What is TT Mobile if it is different to Navigator?

Thanks

TomTom Navigator 5 is - to some extent - the successor of your current version (it is missing some of the functions, and has some new functions)

TomTom Mobile 5 is based on the same engine, but targeting the Smartphones (Navigator is for Pocket PCs). And then you have the version for the GO and for Palms - they are also based on the same engine.

Sorry, still don't understand.

As an owner of a pocket pc with TT Nav v3, can I upgrade to TT Mobile 5? I can't find any reference to TT Nav v5 for pocket pcs on TomToms site.

No, you cannot upgrade to TomTom Mobile 5. You need to upgrade to TomTom Navigator 5 (if that's what you really want). They will announce TTN5 availability "soon" (over here we say "mañana")

thanks. You seem to imply that it is doubtful that I would want it. Any particular reason? I have read the reviews and could really do with the postcode function.

I have had another look at TomTom's site and although they mention that TT Nav 5 will be available soon for PDAs they don't say it will be for PPCs.

A PDA and a PPC are one and the same Smile A PPC is a PocketPC which is a PDA as is a PalmPC.

Thanks, I think I had read Palm for PDA as I used to have one.

TTN5 is missing the following TTN3 functions that are important to me (personally)

- permanent avoid areas
- hardware button assignments
- street type speed preferences
and, most importantly
- navigation to Latitude/Longitude

Again, this is my own private personal opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks Lutz,

I can probably do without these in return for postcode facilities.
