I had read somewhere that the 720T would not be sold in the UK due to the TMC problems, that may be why you have the 720 + the reciever.

If its not as described send it back. If in the UK you can send most goods back that have been ordered on the internet within 7 days working days of receipt under the Distance Selling Regulations.

Thanks for the really quick responce.

The 980T has the SIRF III chip and so should pick up signals very quickly.

If had the choice again would you buy the 980T again?
