They probably use a cryptographic one-way hash, such as MD5 or SHA-1, which are virtually-impossible to convert back to the source value. One-Way hashes are often used to validate passwords ...

I should imagine that the warning was based upon a year after Navigon's release date, and not a year after the date when they bought the map data, which could have been considerably earlier.

Not necessarily. However, I expect that ALK don't pass the data on to Navteq quite as fast and frequently as when you post it directly to the Navteq site.

You could always try uninstalling some other software, or making more space on your card. I find a lack of memory, or space on the card, will stop bluetooth from working.

I assume there is something in the ov2 file which tells Copilot that the file is a safety camera.
Nothing in the file. Simply the fact that the filename begins with 'safetycam'.

Since you don't need camera alerts on the desktop, you can still display the camera icons if you load the OV2/BMP files with names that don't begin with 'safetycam'.
