Vista is the problem, it's not only your device that isn't compatible but many programmes which worked perfectly on XP but not Vista.

Microsoft are the ones to blame for not adding backward compati ...

Ummm if it's any help my problem was very similar and was easily solved - although somewhat nonsensically by TomTom themselves..

Instead of selecting "Other Bluetooth Receiver" select "Other Wired ...
